3. Careers

A lot of people don’t think careers play a major role in a relationship, but they do.  The career options and choices should be discussed once both parties are ready to take the relationship to the next level.  When things get serious, careers are one thing you and your partner should discuss.  Surprisingly, a career could end a relationship.  Some men have a big ego, and if the woman makes more money, this could be an issue down the road.  On the other side of things, the woman may feel her partner is less of a man if she is the bread-winner of the home.  In a lot of relationships, some men and women don’t care about the money, as long as it’s being made and benefits the household.

2. Children and Pets

Children and pets are other instances you need to discuss with your partner.  Don’t be surprised if one of you does not want children and the other one does.  Some people think not having children is selfish, but when you look at the bigger picture, every woman or man does not want the responsibility of another human life.  Children are expensive and caring for them is time-consuming.  The only thing selfish about children is having them for the wrong reasons, such as going through with it because your partner thinks it’s a good idea.  It’s better if you know you don’t want to be a parent and decide not to have children.  As far as pets are concerned, not everyone is a pet lover, whether you have a cat, dog, bird, or a fish.  Pets require a lot of care and attention and some people do not wish to have to take the time to properly care for them.  Once again, this is not a selfish act.  Honesty is one factor that must be present when this discussion takes place because it could escalate into something more than it has to be.  It’s better if your partner knows from the start how you feel about certain situations.

1. Faithful Matters

The number one reason relationships end is because of infidelity.  It’s more of a problem than many people like to think it is.  In this instance, ask your partner what they think about being faithful, being married, and being with only one man or woman for the rest of their lives.  If your partner runs in the other direction, you can guess their standpoint on the situation.  A lot of people are comfortable being in a relationship without being married.  However, there are some people who want to take their relationship to the next level and make their relationship legal.

These three instances need to be discussed before you and your partner decide to become serious within the relationship.  It’s the perfect way to avoid mishaps and heartache down the line.  Most of all, you will not waste each other’s time.
